Children sit statutory assessments (SATs) in Year 2 and Year 6. In Year 2, the children take a Reading and Maths paper. However, the judgment given is a teacher assessment whereby the teacher takes into account the test score as well as the evidence of learning in class. Writing is a teacher assessment based on their learning in class and evidence in books. In Year 6, they sit tests for Reading, Maths, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation and a separate teacher assessment is given for writing.
