Outdoor Learning

At Loseley Fields we teach our children through a range of experiences beyond the classroom. Our developing outdoor area provides a focal point for this.

Outdoor Learning:
At Loseley Fields, our aim is to make learning in the outdoors a major focus amongst the curriculum that we offer.

Our beautiful school site is being developed to aid the implementation of our outdoor-based curriculum. With the help of Surrey Outdoor Learning Development (S.O.L.D) and the Surrey Wildlife Trust, we have started the process of constructing a purpose-built environmental science classroom/community centre and have initiated the redevelopment of our wildlife/outdoor learning area (including bug trap doors, a bug hotel and an outdoor classroom).

Alongside site development, our teaching staff are regularly planning and teaching lessons in the great outdoors. From English and maths, to music and computing no aspect of our curriculum remains solely within the confines of bricks and mortar. We are working to achieve the Woodland Trust 'Green Trees School Award.'

We offer a wide range of trips that provide a plethora of outdoor experiences: farm and agricultural visits; historical site visits; horticultural site visits. Our school also hosts its very own outdoor learning club, the Loseley Rangers, that aims to get children of all ages outside playing in the mud, climbing trees, using tools and cooking on open fires.

Our Flourish Programme has supported many young people in cultivating a growth mindset through planting, nurturing and growing plants within the school grounds.

Our staff carefully plan engaging educational visits to enable the curriculum to come to life and allow them to learn through first-hand experience. In the older years these involve residential visits to promote independence and prepare children for their transition to secondary school.

Survival skills Loseley style! Thanks to Mr Etherton and all staff helping to support our families at this difficult time. Great time had by all our pupils at school today. Camouflage made hide and seek a bit more difficult! https://t.co/fSCsRB5xSj
