How to Make a Wormery

We wanted to bring science to life and discover more about the amazing lives of earthworms!

Did you know there are over 3,000 types of earthworms, and some in Australia can grow over three metres long?

We first poured a thin layer of sand into the bottom of our tank.

And repeated until the tank was three quarters full.

We put a handful of dead leaves on top of the soil and added our worms.

We then wrapped some black paper around our tank as worms live underground so they prefer the dark. We keep our wormery cool, dark and safe and ensure we keep it damp.
