Roots for the Future

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their planting session, where they were able to plant some beautiful trees for future generations to watch grow. The teamwork and collaboration seen was marvellous. We cannot wait to see our beautiful hedgerow once it has grown!

Awesome Artists

Over the last few weeks, year 6 have been creating some artwork inspired by the Blitz as part of their topic ‘Great Powers Collide’ which focusses on World War 2. During this series of art lessons, children have learned how to create silhouettes, to blend a range of water colours and how to bring a sense of atmosphere to a painting with the colour palate used.

Heroic Historians

Hercules spent some time this afternoon investigating some World War 2 artefacts from relatives of some of the children in the class. We were able to decipher what the objects would have been used for and became immersed in some letters and postcards sent almost 100 years ago!

Daring Designers

Year 6 have been hard at work over the last few weeks taking part in their ‘Moving Toys’ DY project. As well as partaking in the research and design process, they have been busy making the components for the mechanisms of their toys using cams and followers. The final pieces are beginning to come together and the children are rightfully very proud of the outcome of their hard work.

Marvellous Mathematicians

As part of our learning in maths this half term, we have been exploring the different properties of both triangles and quadrilaterals. The children have been using their knowledge of sides, angles and shape to support them when asked to make as many different triangles or quadrilaterals as they can with only the resources given to them.

Splendiferous Scientists

In science, we have been utilising our wonderful outdoor environments. As part of our topic looking at the classification of living things, we have been learning about invertebrates. After learning all about the different classification groups, we threw on our wellies and explore the school grounds, while taking part in an invertebrates hunt.
