We postponed our World Book Day until all the children were back in school and it was worth the wait!
On Friday 26th March we held our belated World Book Day celebrations and we were lucky enough to have not one but three children’s authors/illustrators virtually visit us and the children thoroughly enjoyed their workshops.
- Piers Torday (author of The Last Wild Trilogy) who joined our Years 4, 5 & 6.
- Tony De Saulles (author /illustrator of the Bee Boy trilogy) for ‘visiting’ our Years 2 & 3.
- Karin Littlewood (author/illustrator of Immi, Sea Song & Star Girl) for joining our Reception and Year 1 classes.
The children also took part in lots of other book themed activities such as building reading dens and taking part in our ‘Masked Readers’ challenge where they tried to work out who the mystery voices belong to! Thank you to the teachers for putting on accents and silly voices for this!
The children had also been given a challenge prior to the day – to decorate toilet roll tubes as their favourite book characters and bring them in and they delivered! Well done to all the pupils for their creativity, they are superb!
On top of all of this it was also wear green to tie in with our tree planting and native hedgerow planting project with Roots for the Future!
